It is hard to believe that we have been in school for a month! The class is doing well in getting into the routine and expectations of 2nd grade.
This month we will working on:
Math:
- OA.1- One step word problems with addition and subtraction with the end unknown (the sum). This looks like the equations: 12 + 13= ___ or 35 - 21=___. Students are to show their math thinking using base ten blocks.
- NBT. 2- Skip counting by 5's, 10's and 100's. This standard can be hard because students are to be able to skip count from any given number. For example: skip count by 5's starting at 7: 7,12, 17,22,27,32.
- MD.8- Money. For the first quarter, students will only be counting with pennies, nickels and dimes. Many of the problems will be presented as a word problem. For example: Tina has 2 dimes, 1 nickel and 3 pennies. How much money does Tina have all together? She has 28 cents.

- RL.5- To describe the beginning , middle and end of a story.
