I can't believe that it is already February! It has been good to get back into a routine at school. Students are working hard and progress reports will be coming home Friday, February 9th.
This month is 2nd grades fundraiser month. We are selling candy boxes and mardi gras beads for a $1.00. All money goes to future field trips that 2nd grade will take later this spring.
Here are the standards will are working on this month:
Math: adding up to 4- 2 digit numbers ( 23 + 25+ 12+ 17)
One and two step word problems with money
Greater than , less than
Reading: point of view of characters in a story
recounting fables and folktales and telling central message
Writing: opinion writing
Science: stars and their physical attributes ( size and brightness) and how our sun ( a star) compares and contrasts with other stars.
Social Studies: Juliette Gordon Low ( the founder of Girl Scouts) and her importance to Georgia's history.
Martin Luther King Jr., Jackie Robinson and Julietter Gordon Low - how they adapted to and were influenced by their environments and demonstrate positive character traits.

Feb 9th: Progress reports come home
Feb 9th: College Day
Feb 13th: Class and Individual picture day
Feb 14th: Valentine's Day * Will send home class list if students want to bring in Valentines to exchange with classmates.
Feb 16th: Pajama Day * fundraiser for 2nd grade field trips
Feb. 19th- 23rd: Winter Break- NO SCHOOL
