It is so nice that it is finally feeling like Fall. I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler temperature. Please remember to have you child wear a jacket in the mornings when it is chilly. We will go outside for recess and our classroom can be cool at times.
I want to say "THANK YOU" for coming out for our Parent -Teacher conferences for last week! It was great to see and talk to each of you about how your child is doing in 2nd grade. Please remember to have your child get on MobyMax and Headsprout /Raz-kids at home for practice in math, phonics and reading.
This month, we are working on :
Reading: Asking and answer questions ( who, what, where, when, why and how) using informational text; describe the connection between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts or steps in a technical procedures in a text.
Math: word problems- start unknown ( ____ + 15 = 37 or _____ - 15 = 22); middle unknown ( 15 + ____= 37 or 37 - _____= 22) and two step word problems.
Language: Contractions, possessives
Science: pushes and pulls
Social Studies: James Olgethorpe and Tomochichi- Who and what did they do for Georgia's history?
Writing: Informational writing- writing about a topic with facts.
We have Awards Day this Wednesday, October 23. If you chil d is getting an award, an invite paper would have come home last week.
This Friday, we are having children's author Diane Z. Shore coming to read to the whole school.
