We have a lot of learning that is happening this month, so just remind your child to read, read and read!!!
This month we will be learning about:
Reading:
RI3:Describing connections between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts or steps in a technical procedures in a text.
RI6: Identifies main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe.
RI8: Describes how reasons support specific points the author makes in a text. RI9:Compares and contrasts the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic.
Math:
G.3: partition circles and rectangles into 2, 3, or 4 equal shares
G.2: partition a rectangle into rows and columns
OA.4: repeated addition ( up to 5 by 5)
OA.1: all word problems to 100
NBT.9: explain place value
Language:
2L2: what is a noun? review
2L2: capitalize proper nouns
2L2: what are nouns vs verbs
2L1: past tense irregular verbs
Writing:
We are revisiting all 3 genres this month (personal narrative, information and opinion)
Science:
We are learning about lifecycles of butterflies ( we will have real caterpillars in our classroom to watch them transform into butterflies), bird, amphibian and mammal.
Social Studies:
We will be learning about economics ( goods and services).
Milestone testing will begin Tuesday, April 10th for 3rd , 4th, and 5th grade. Our specials time will be moved to in the morning 9:55- 10:45 for the next week.
Progress reports for the 4 1/2 weeks will go home Friday, April 27.
