Here is what is going on this month:
Read Across America week of Feb. 25- March 1 in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday
Friday, March 1: Pajama Day at school- this is a fundraiser for 2nd grade to raise money for our upcoming field trip.
Wednesday, March 13: Early Release day at 12:30 for professional development.
Friday, March 15: End of 3rd 9 weeks.
Book Fair week of March 18-22
Thursday, March 21: International Night at 6:30-8:00
Friday, March 22: Report cards come home
April 1-5: Spring Break- No School
Here is what we are learning:
Reading: Compare and Contrast two stories, review RL1,2,6 for Q3 and retest. For Q4; work on RI.1- asking and answer questions for informational story.
Math: Word problems(OA.1) with one and two step problems with NBT.9, explaining your thinking and what strategy you used. Math facts to sums of 20(OA.2).For Q3 we will review and retest on money, word problems, math facts, place value strategies and comparing numbers.
Writing: we are finishing up opinion writing, the students have done well. For Q4, we will revisit all 3 generes: narrative, informational and opinion.
Science: we are reviewing about the moon and how shadows are made
Social Studies: we are review the character traits of Martin Luther King, Jr., Jackie Robinson, and Juliette Gordon Low
On Monday, March 11- I will be sending home a field trip permission slip for Chattahooche Nature Center on April 11.
Please make sure you child is doing their reading for their homework each night, this helps with their comprehension and fluency.
